Toyota Repair: check electrical system light, 1991 geo prizm, geo prizm

Question
What is the troubleshooting path for a 1991 Geo Prizm, a Toyota of another name, that displays the "check electrical system" light?  Done the fuses, bulbs etc....cleared the light by disconnecting the battery...but it returns within a couple of days?

Answer
jump the T and the E1 terminals in the small black diagnostic connector under the hood. The terminals are listed in the lid. Its about an inch by 2 size black box near the strut tower.
Then count the flashes of the light. *****  ** would be 52, and so on. Then you can procede once you have a code.
