Toyota Repair: Check engine light., diagnostic port, dip stick
QuestionHi-
What causes the check engine light in my truck to come on? For example if my transmission fluid was really low would that cause it to come on? I have a 1995 Toyota Tacoma 4x4 automatic. Thank you.
AnswerShort TE1 & E1 in a DIAGNOSTIC port & the chekc engine light will flash the code.
You check the transmission fluid by driving until warm, parking on a level surface, shifting to all positions & reading the dip-stick with the engine idling. It should read the top of the hot mark & the ATF should be a bright red color.
