QuestionHi, I have a Toyota T100, 1996, 4 cyl automatic 2.7L and it runs a bit rough. A friend told me it is probably a bad valve. It can still be driven, has a bit over 400,000 miles on it. Is replacing a valve expensive? Thanks!
AnswerYes it is, but without being there I can't comment on the problem. Nor do I advise listening to your friend unless they are very apt to working on your engine in particular one.
It's *not* common to drop a valve in any semi-modern Toyota. In general... If you've been changing your oil on schedule. It's yay far from un-heard of.
The mileage is very high, but I would take it to an independant mechanic, or a Toyota dealer to see what the cause is.
