Toyota Repair: icon lights on dash, older models, sensor system

Question
Icon light for air-bag comes on continually after engine starts. Is this a serious concern? Does it mean a failure in the sensor system?
Might the air bags not work?

Answer
there is a code stored in the air bag computer. There is a small black box near the strut top on older models . If you jump Tc and E1 terminals the light will flash a code.
terminals marked inside cap of box.
Then you can see where the fault lies.
The air bags DO NOT work while the light is on.
