Toyota Repair: 99 Camry front brakes, haynes manual, toyota dealer
Question99 Camry 4 cyl, 106k miles. I installed new front pads, discs. Manual mentions anti-rattle springs. There were none. Manual also displayed 2 shims for each pad (inside & outside). I removed/replaced only 1 shim for each pad. Should I be concerned? It's a Haynes manual. Maybe later Camry models were changed and manual was not updated?
AnswerThe Camry brake pads should have two shims per pad, you may have aftermarket shims installed so I suggest that you get the correct shims from the toyota dealer and install them and use the lubricant that comes with them to avoid possible brake squeeking.
