QuestionHello,
I've just moved to East Africa (Rwanda) and am looking for a reliable 4x4. Unfortunately, it is almost impossible to find one locally, so I will have to import one from Japan.
My choice has come down to the Hilux Surf (aka 4runner in the states). I can afford a car in the range of 1991-1995.
My questions:
- Would I be better off with the 2.4litre diesel or the 3.0l V6 diesel when I am mostly concerned about reliability?
- Should I stick to a manual transmission? Few people out here could repair an automatic, so I thought a manual would be better. But ATs are more easily available.
Thanks in advance for your help,
NIcolas
AnswerI know absolutely nothing about the diesel engines, there are not sold here in the US, it really is up to you which transmission you prefer, if either one has a problem it will be expensive to repair anyway but I think the manual transmission would probably a wise choice in your case.
