Toyota Repair: 98 Tacoma 5 speed popping out of 4th gear, transmission shop, transmission problem

I have a 98 tacoma that is popping out of 4th gear whenever let off the accellator.  When I put the transmission in fourth it feels like it only engages 1/2 way.  I called a transmission shop and they told me it's the shifter bushing that needs to be replaced.  I pulled the shifter out and looked at it and the bushing looks good.

There are two bushings, one is in the shift tower and the reason you may not see a problem is that is has broken and disappeared,the other one is at the bottom of the shifter.
If the bushings are both intact I suspect that you may have a transmission problem. My advice is to have a professional look to see if there is a bushing problem because most of the time that is what it is.
