Tractor Repair: oil pump, pressure relief valve, poor oil
QuestionI have a Ford tractor model 851 w/ 127 CI 4 cyl gas engine- i have very poor oil pressure- low volume and with(air raiting) white coming at pressure line (has new 10w 30 oil in it) what could be causing this andwhat is involved in getting to the oil pump ??? thanks bill
AnswerHello,
Poor oil pressure can be caused by lots of things. Oil pump, pickup screen, pressure relief valve, bearings, etc. But air in the oil indicates to me that there is a suction leak or the pickup screen is restricted. Remove the oil pan and inspect the pump and pickup screen.
