Tractor Repair: Ford 4000 PTO Problem, pto shaft, clutch plates

I have a 1972 Ford 4000. The PTO shaft is constantly turning and when I move the lever to disengage nothing happens?

Hello,

  The pto clutch plates are warped or burnt, and will have to be replaced.  The pto brake band will be damaged also and will have to be replaced.  The tractor has to be split between the transmission and rear frame to get at the pto clutch.
