Tractor Repair: Ford 8n tractor, ford 8n tractor, air filter
QuestionThe tractor will start, but is difficult to start. When started will run but quit. Will frequently make high pitched moaning sound near air filter/cleaner cylinder. Poor power. Requires much playing around with choke to start. What could be the problem?
AnswerScott it sounds like it could be a burnt or stuck valve this is common on older type petrol tractors as fuel like unleaded or lead free replacement burns valves and if it has been sitting a long period it may have a valve open all the time.
Do a compresstion check on it and this will give you an idea of what is happening.
