Triumph Repair: triumph spitfire1500, crankshaft, spitfire

doing a restoration on my spitfire and the engine just wont do anything. it was turning over when i got it. points have been changed and all that stuff, new battery but nothing any clues??

Hi Simon,
When you say "Won't do anything" Do you mean that the starter does not spin the engine or it does spin the engine but it will not start? Can you turn the crankshaft by hand? These are  different problems. Also, what year Spitfire is it?
