Triumph Repair: Water pump and clutching fan, fan fan, electric fan

Question
My clutching fan is not working properly and need replacement.  I have never been a great fan of the clutching fan. I have a 78 Spitfire I am thinking about using a water pump and pulley from a 71-74 and getting a flex fan I'm fairly sure the pump is the same and I think pulley will line up.  What is your thoughts.

Hi John,
I am with you in that I am not a fan of clutch fans either, however I am also not a fan of flex fans either, nor rigid fans either. I am an electric fan fan. I am also a "Pusher" electric fan fan and not an Electric "Puller" fan fan.
