Triumph Repair: vitesse Gearboxes, rimmer brothers, rimmerbros

Question
Recently bought a 1968 mk1 2ltr Triumph Vitesse and the gearbox is incredibly noisey(it whines). I am about to purchase a second hand GT6 Gearbox on the understanding that they are the same and will simply bolt off and on. can you confirm this?
Also, if this is true, can I bolt my current overdrive unit to it?

I haven't had the pleasure of working on a Vitesse (they're fairly rare on this side of the pond) so I don't have first hand knowledge.

A quick check of Rimmer Brothers website (www.rimmerbros.co.uk) does indicate 2 different part #s for the replacement gearboxes.  That doesn't necessarily mean that the GT6 gearbox cannot be bolted up, it's just indicates that *something* is different between the two units.

Unfortunately my factory Vitesse workshop manual only covers the 1600 version so I can't even get a good diagram to explain the possible differences.
