Triumph Repair: Spitfire Diverter Valve, pandora ohio, smog equipment
QuestionI live in California and have a stock 79 1500 Spitfire. All the smog equipment is in place. The diverter valve vibrated out of its screws and eventually broke. I can't seem to find another anywhere. I came across a GM DV-49 diverter valve that LOOKS very similar. Is there any chance it might work? Is there any chance ANY other diverter valve might work? Do you know of a place that would have a correct diverter valve?
AnswerBrian,
I don't know of anyone making a GM diverter fit... it doesn't mean it can't or won't work, just outside my experience.
You might try some of the Spitfire parts vendors. Nigel at Spitbits (www.spitbits.com) has a good source for used/working parts and may be able to help.
Or you can try Ted Schumacher (www.tsimportedautomotive.com) in Pandora Ohio, Ted also has quite a parts yard and may be able to supply a good working unit.
Tell them I say "howdy"
Cheers,
Jim
