Triumph Repair: spitfire paintwork, grey patches, paint work

hi jim,
i bought a 1966 mk2 spitfire in great condition only six months ago,but i have a problem with the paint work now,thier are grey patches come up all over the boot lid,and are now showing up on other areas of the car,i used t-cut colour magic the other day,it worked a treat until it rained for a couple of days,and now they are re-appearing.
can you tell me what this is and is thier anything that can be done,other than a re-spray.

It sounds like either a poor paint job or an old paint job.  If the spots are reappearing after lots of moisture then it might be an issue with a clear coat starting to "go".

What you might try is using cleaning compound then a good wax coat.  

Otherwise it might just be time for fresh paint.
