Triumph Repair: no spark in points, triumph tr6, rotor arm

I am trying to get a 1974 Triumph TR6 started
I am not getting any spark from the points.
any idea where I should start

Ralph,

Stock ignition setup, I take it?

Troubleshooting no spark:

1)  With the ignition on you should see +12v on the "+" side of the ignition coil

2)  Verify that the points are clean and gapped correctly.

3)  Check/clean the contacts in the distributor cap

4)  check/clean the rotor arm central contact and the tip of the rotor arm.

If all of these fail to get the spark then there's a possibility that either the coil has failed or the ignition wire(s) are bad.
