Triumph Repair: carb replacement, mk ii, single top
QuestionJIM
THE CARBS CAME WITH THE MANIFOLD WITH TWO PORTS WHICH YOU ADVISED ME NEEDS TO BE USED WITH THE MATCHING SPITFIRE EXHAUST IN ORDER TO FASTEN IT TO THE HEAD. I DO NOT HAVE THE REQUIRED EXHAUST MANIFOLD. IS THERE A TWO PORT INTAKE MANIFOLD THAT WILL FIT THE TWO SU CARBS ON ONE SIDE AND BOLT DIRECTLY TO THE 1147cc HEAD ON THE OTHER SIDE. THE INTAKE ON THE CAR NOW IS THE STOCK TWO PORT BOLT UP WHICH COMES TOGETHER TO THE SINGLE TOP MOUNTED CARB.
THANKS AGAIN
MATT
AnswerMatt,
The manifold you have should bolt to the head as-is. The problem is that you need to have a separate exhaust manifold.
Here is a picture of the Spitfire setup for the 1147. I'm using a link to a vendor in the UK that specializes in Triumphs.

It sounds like you have the Mk II intake manifold. Take a look and let me know.
