Triumph Repair: Valve tapping, arm bushings, rocker shaft
QuestionHello I just bought my second triumph this one is a 1973 tr6 the last owner stated that there is a valve tap after the car is warmed up to me this sounds like a bad lifter but I'm not sure any help would be appreciated .
Thanks for your time

AnswerFrank,
Typically a valve tap is caused by looseness between the valve stem/rocker arm/push rod.
The first step would be to adjust the valves properly. If you still get a tap upon warm up then it's time for a more thorough investigation.
In a 30+ year old car it's also quite possible that the rocker arm bushings and/or the rocker shaft are worn.
Cheers,
