UK Car Repair: vectra steering rack, pipe rack, steering rack

just found huge leak on steering rack can you just replace the seal washers on the rack or do you have to replace the whole rack if leaky haw can i tell

You have to first determine just what is leaking, usually "huge" leaks are the result of a broken hose or pipe. Rack inner seals usually seep first and slowly get worse. Most often it is more economical to get a refurbished rack as some are very difficult to rebuild.
