UK Car Repair: Jag XJ6 speedo, instrument repair shop, electronic speedo

Hi,, I have a Jag XJ6 1984with an electronic speedo..it intermit fails and I have removed the speedo and dismantled it and run it on test from a function generator .
It allways shows speed but the dist and oddometer stop int(between 2 and 300 kms).
The IC inside has markings for Texas Inst M1C2/C..but I can find no info on this IC.
Can you help me???ie. can the circuit module be replaced/ repaired,,is the IC available ...any info would be appreciated. alan

You know more about the internals than I do, normally the problem is mechanical, the plastic drive gear slips or breaks. You might find it easier to buy a used head.  I only have contacts in California but there may be an instrument repair shop in your area -check in the JDC magazine- who can repair it.
