UK Car Repair: vauxhall astra 1.7 deisel turbo 1999, vauxhall astra, injector pipes
QuestionI have volunteered to remove the fuel pump for a friend. As he lives quite far away I have not been able to look at what is involved. Are there any special tools required and are there any pit falls. I am only removing and perhaps refitting,it will hopefully be repaired by a specialist.
AnswerDo you mean the primary pump or the fuel injection pump? The primary pump is likely in the tank, i'm not sure, you would have to trace the line back to the tank. If, as I suspect, you mean the fuel injection pump then it has to be timed to the engine so make sure you mark it and the engine so that you get it back in the correct position. When back on, it needs to be bled out by loosening the injector pipes while turning the engine over.
