UK Car Repair: coolant extension tank, pouring water, general location

Hi John i dont know if youcan help or not  but worth a try .I went to fillmy  cooland extension tank and the water just  ran right though i could see it  coming out though engine but have no idea where its from  its like pouring water down sink .I hope you can help  .  thank you

Well, the optimum way to do this is to use a food coloring "I prefer red myself".  Start by cleaning the engine with a degreaser and a hose to make finding it easier. Then, mix up a gallon of water with coloring and have an assistant pour it in as you look underneath it with a flashlight till you find where it is coming from. If it is not found under the car, you can use the same method from up top while scrounging through the engine bay. Do this with the engine off and cold and feel up all the hoses to check for tears and leaks. If you cannot find it but have narrowed it down to a general aria, you can inquire upon me again with the general location and I will give you some possibilities. Remember to include the year / make / and model of the vehicle.
