QuestionI have a 2001 turbo bug and I need to replace the battery, it looks as if i have to remove the fender . What is the easiest way to replace the Battery?

The battery is removed from inside the engine compartment:
- Remove the battery cover lid(squeeze the latch in front)
- Remove the negative battery cable.
- Remove the fuse box cover, remove the positive cable to the fuse box (for safety). Set the fuse box aside.
- Remove the positive battery cable.
- Remove the power steering reservoir hold down bolt and battery cover bolt. Set the reservoir aside but do not disconnect the hoses.
- Remove the battery cover.
- Remove the battery hold down clamp.
- Remove the battery.
You should get a "memory saver" while doing this in case you have any anti-theft features that will cause problems from having no power. See picture.
