Volkswagen Repair: Seat Ibiza, oil pressure switch, mike hope

I have a 1.4 1999 seat ibiza and believe the engine is VW i am having a problem locating the oil light switch on the engine can anybody help with this thanks Mike

Hi Mike;
The oil light is turned on by an oil pressure switch located at, near, or just above, or below the oil cooler, where the oil filter is located.  There should be a threaded part, that has one wire coming out of it, and it will be very near the oil filter/oil cooler assembly.. It senses the pressure made by the oil pump, and if the pressure isn't high enough it turns on the light inside the car.  If you look at the engine, right in the middle(just about), above the oil filter/cooler the little threaded device I'm referring to should be right there.  Good luck, Mike.  Hope this helps.
