Volkswagen Repair: suspension, oxnard st, rear strut

I wish to change to rear shock/struts of my 96 VW passat, and am uncertain as to how to get at the upper mounting bolts.

Answer
I think you have to access the top mounting of the rear strut from the back seat area next to the seat belts. There probally is a trim cover you must remove first. On earlier models you must align the "fingers" of a center fitting to remove this trim piece. You might also have to remove a trim piece covering the seatbelt mechanism.
