Volkswagen Repair: Alarm 97 Jetta Trek, correct key, electronic repair

As soon as I unlock my car the alarm starts sounding. The only way to turn the alarm off is to insert key into the lock on the trunk and unlock the trunk. This started for the first time yesterday. I have owned the car for 2 years without any problems.  Any ideas? I would like to be able to lock and unlock my car without the alarm sounding.

Not knowledgeable on this but try to experiment by getting a new key cut.  I am thinking that the key is worn enough for the  alarm not to recognize it as the correct key...otherwise, off to the dealer or the manufacturer of the alarm or an electronic repair shop.
