Volkswagen Repair: Rack and pinion 2001 Jetta, uap napa, volkswagen jetta

My 2001 volkswagen jetta is leaking power steering fluid from the rubber boot on the rack &pinion.Do they sell rebuild kits for this or is a new rack in my future.If so are they hard to change as I dont have a $1000.00 to let a dealer do this.Any help or advice  you can give will be greatly appreciated.Thank you

while I haven't had any   personal experience on this item, I can tell you that they sell rebuild kits for almost everything. A seal is failing.  The boot just stops dirt from entering.
   However find yourself a shop other than the dealer who sells parts-a jobber -Bow-Wow auto parts is strictly VW parts for example, or UAP/NAPA.  Look in your phone book.  Not only are the parts cheaper in price but you can find some info on your procedure.  Otherwise there is the library.  Sorry  I no canna be more helping then that.
