1993 Volvo 960 intermittent problem starting, now hard failure.  Does not try to turn over. New battery earlier this spring.  Sometimes before it would start after couple tries locking and unlocking the car with remote

 Bob, you need to determine if you are having a security system failure, a shifter interlock failure or a starter failure. Start with checking the starting and charging system first. Load test that fairly new battery anyway. Then I would check the shifter interlock system next. Lastly, move onto the security system. HTH
