Volvo Repair: Volvo s80 air con, volvo s80, independent volvo

Hi

My air condition cycles out any time between 5 and 15 minutes after being turned on. Dealer says replace compressor $2500 . Is this the only option

Greg, $2500?  Are they replacing the whole A/C system?  That compressor job should be no more than $1000.  9 times out of 10 the clutch just needs to be reshimmed.  Cuts out for 2 reasons.  One may be the in car temp sensor and the other would be low refriegerant or a big gap between the clutch.  I would get a second opinion from an independent Volvo shop.  What crooks.  Roger
