Volvo Repair: Turbos, volvo s80, oil test
QuestionHello, I have a 99 Volvo S80. My car was involed in an accident and it went to a a shop to have the axle replaced on the Passenger front. Long story short it was running fine even when I had to go there and test drove it, it was running fine. But when it was finally ready, all of a sudden it just smoked like it was on fine and the mechanic mechanic told me the Turbos were out, with out even looking at the car he knew this. My question is do they go out and how often and is there something they could have intenionally done to damage them. I just don't believe they were working fine one day and the next they are blowing smoke like a forest fire... Please let me, and is this something I can fix myself or is it over my head. Also is it costly
Answeryou have to take it to Volvo dealer turbo don't go bad so much but at times they go bad maybe you have to much oil check first your dipstick for engine oil check the level maybe you have above max if you have drain oil fill it up with 6.5 quarts of oil test drive and see if the smoke goes away .turbo are very expensive parts are around if you need both turbo $850 each one plus labor is around $700-1000
