Volvo Repair: 1992 Volvo 740 turbo wagon, mosquito fogger, volvo 740 turbo wagon
QuestionHello Roger:
I have a 1992 740 trubo wagon with 170,000 miles. Mostly serviced by dealer except things I can do my self (brakes, plugs, ignition, Oil). Dealer is telling me my turbo is begining to leak oil (little wet aroung rubber hoses -- nothing on the ground) and it is time to be replaced. What are the symptoms of a failing Turbo? Car runs just as good as first day when I drove it out of te show room--except for a few noises here and there. Burns no oil.
AnswerMichael, Mainly if you start seeing a lot of white smoke coming out the tailpipe. Small leaks like that are common on these cars so unless you start seein massive amounts of smoke like a mosquito fogger and if you are losing boost pressure, then I would hold off until it quits on you. Roger
