Volvo Repair: Clutch for 1992 Volvo 240, crankshaft pulley, 1992 volvo 240

The clutch has gone out on my friend's 1992 Volvo 240.  The power steering runs from the same belt and I know it will eventually seize. She does not have the money for a new compressor and labor (totaling $900-1500).  The part on the internet is $319 but i'm not competent with ac work.  Is there a non-ac model of the car and non-ac belt/ belt configuration that could substitute???

I have replaced just a belt that ran from the crankshaft pulley to the PS pulley.Its a litle bit off and I don't like the repair much.I would rather see you replace just the AC comprssor clutch, Its a bolt on peice that doesn't involve any AC work. Should be able to pick one up locally for about a hundred bucks. I have seen some canadian models without AC, its a different configuration of ps pump.
