Volvo Repair: odometer broken, ABS faulty, abs light, trip meter
QuestionHello, I have a 1996 850 volvo sedan that I am interested in selling. It is a great car but has several things wrong with it including a broken odometer (stopped when I was trying to reset the trip meter just over a year ago) and the ABS light comes on ~60 of the time. Do I need to get these fixed before trying to sell the car. If I don't fix them, how much would the car be worth with them broken in an otherwise clean car? If I do fix them, will it make a difference? Please help - thanks!
AnswerLisa, the odometer is an easy fix. The gear inside is broken. You must have pushed the button when the car was moving. Big no-no. AS far as the ABS, its most likely the ABS control unit that is faulty. Common issue on these cars. If a shop repaired these items it should be as follows. $189 for the odometer and roughly 450 for the control unit. These are parts and labor. These cars are going for anywhere between 3-7 thousand for nice condition cars. Hope this helped. Roger
