QuestionA/C on my 99 S80 Turbo works for a few minutes, goes on and off every 3 or 4 seconds, then after about 5 minutes, it quits. If I turn the A/C off and wait about 5 minutes, and then turn it on, it will work again for a short time and then quit again. I have taken it to 3 volvo mechanics but I hear conflicting diagnostics.
1. Compressor clutch is bad and overheats, change the compressor
2. Computer control of the compressor is messed up. Have dealer reset or fix computer.
3. Pressure or temperture sensor is bad somewhere. change sensors
4. Receivr/dryer is clogged,change it.
I don't know which one to believe. HELP.
Thanks.
Answerfirst i need to know pressure readings from your ac system
also your car has a diagnostic program witch can help if is electrical problem using Volvo dealer diagnostic only
did you ever recharge ac? how much freon (lb) did you put in? best is go to Volvo dealer also if it clicks compressor like you say 3-4 seconds a part on/off best guess is you are low or to high on freon your ac shuts down to prevent damage to compressor and other parts in ac system
