Volvo Repair: Ringa...ding...ding on 87 Volvo 740, ding sound, volvo 740

I have a warning or idiot switch that triggers that "ding..ding" sound ,as if the door was open with the keys in the ignition. This occurs even when door is closed and I am driving. I happens from the get go after the key is inserted.

gregg,  remove ashtray assembly.  Remove cover form cig lighter.  Remove 2 screws and take that tray out.  Now remove the blue chime relay towards the back.  Problem solved.  Also check fuse 5 to see if its blown.  If it is, then there is a problem with your dome light assembly.  Roger
