Volvo Repair: 1998 240 a/c, electric cooling fan, thanks in advance

Hi,i noticed there is no electrical cooling fan in front of the radiator! is this normal for this model year? (a/c not working ) can i   install a universal fan  instead ? thanks in  advance   .  fred

you don't need the cooling fan if is not there  some  240 have electric cooling fan but is only to help out cool the engine when ac is used  if you car is not  overheating you don't need any extra electric cooling fan you have a 1989 240  right not 1998 there is no 1998 240 model
