Volvo Repair: fuel injectors-flooding, volvo 240 dl, engine wiring harness

1983 Volvo 240 DL-when I turn the ignition switch to ON (not crank)you can hear all of the injectors clicking like mad BEFORE even trying to start car. (I had a friend verify by feeling each injector for vibration when I turned the key to "on" Turning key to crank results in  Car starting  but runs extremely rough-smells like runing very rich.

Jim, 2 things.  1 Fuel control unit. check fuel relay.  When key is turned on, nothing is supposed to be happening until you crank.  There may also be a problem with the engine wiring harness.  Something that old the wires break inside and touch causing strange stuff to happen.   This one needs to go to a Volvo Shop for further testing.  Roger
