Volvo Repair: check engine light, volvo s 40, newer cars

I own a 2000 volvo s 40 turbo as I was driving tonight my check engine went on . Got any ideas what the problem maybe.

Gary, If I had a crystal ball then I would be able to tell you.  It can be anything from a loose gas cap to large emissions problems like a  cat converter.  The car needs to be scanned to find out what is wrong.  Sorry but on these newer cars, thats the way it goes. Roger
