good evening my 1989 volvo 240 dl starts, but when driving it will not go over the speed of 5 mph,
what could be the problems and what might it cost.

Anthony, this is a very vague question.  There are hundred of possibilites on what is wrong.  Need a little more info.  Could be a throtle cable or the rod that connects to the throtle popped off?  I cant see the car so Its very hard to diagnose without more information.  Roger
