Volvo Repair: Key will not turn ignition, volvo v70 cross country, 2001 volvo v70

My key will not turn the ignition. I have a 2001 Volvo V70 Cross Country.  I went to the gas station to fill up, I came home turned off the car and when I attempted to start the car again the key would not turn past the first position.  The igniton appears to be locked up/jammed.  What is the problem

you will need neww ignitio lock   you have to take it to volvo dealer  only tow it the will order pre code lock for you so you can use same keys  but the problem is the lock inside  gets stock   sometimes it starts to work when you hit the lock   but is better to replace  than to have the problem agan .
