Volvo Repair: 1989 240 dl lights, high beams, ground connections

. new problem, when I step on brakes head lights come on. when i step off brake they go right out. when I turn head lights on low beam, top brake light comes on. when I switch to high beams it goes off. I just bought this car 4 days ago so I dont have any history. Any ideas Thank You Jim

Jim, Thats a good one.  I can just imagine what kind of mess is under the hood and under the steering wheel.  I would start with all the ground connections.  Then if you have a used headlight switch, then try that.  Other than that, I would have to look at the car.   Sound like a challenge.  Roger
