Volvo Repair: Cam Sprocket to Camshaft alignment, camshaft sprockets, 1998 volvo v70
QuestionRoger,
I have a 1998 Volvo V70 T-5 2WD that had a leaking head gasket.
I have since pulled the head had it machined and new valve stem seals installed. Following the directions in the Chiltons manual I removed the camshaft sprockets from the cams. I now find that its impossible to realign the sprockets with the cams without some sort of tool. Can you stear me to the Volvo specific tools I will need to realign the cams with the sprockets as well as install the top part of the head?
Regards,
Bryan
AnswerBryan, Thats why I use chiltons as toilet paper. Its useless. You Never remove the cam sprockets. There is a tool to align the cams. Thats why I Always mark the cams when I take them out. Do you remember which one was exhaust and which one was intake? I hope you do because if not you are screwed. Let me know and then we can go further. Roger
