QuestionI have a 740 turbo wagon, 1991. I keep up with maintenance & just learned to do my own oil changes. Last visit to mechanic, recommended Motorvac to flush out particles, etc. from gas, keep fuel injectors from sucking it in & since have 253,000 miles, said it was due to have this done. Last 2-3 weeks, had intermittent loss in acceleration from stop to second then, would "catch" and do fine from 30 miles up. Scheduled apt. for 3/31 then car doing better, making sure not to let it get low on gas -- now suddenly fuel leak from right under driver's seat area. Due to rain, haven't been able to look under, but will take bus to work next 3 days then take to shop. Can you tell me where possible fuel lines are that may have come loose?
AnswerHello,
Fuel leaks are caused by either a rusted or damaged fuel line. You have a excellant large fuel filter that should be changed every 15,000 if you use reg.gas...if you use prem. gas every 25,000 miles.
DON'T CHANGE YOUR OIL!!Let a person who is set-up to do this job do it...What do you do with the old oil?Changing oil is a lousy job...pay someone the 29.99 to do the job.DO NOT USE A FRANCHISED QUICK LUBE....they often hire kids to do the work and they often make mistakes like stripping out your drain plug...lecture is over.
You may add a can of injector cleaner to the gas tank,it's a good idea...chances are you may need to look at your fuel injectors. They lose their nice spray and drip causing poor performance.
You are a GOOD person for not driving your car with fuel leak.
Good luck,
