I have a 91 940 SE, when I'm driving the car will loss power if I try to go faster. I noticed that whenever the turbo gauge get close to the white area, I lose power and I have to release the gas and press it again. I also have an exhaut leak between the converter and the first muffler, would that have an effect on the car's performace. I have 176,000 miles on the car.
Thank you for your help...

Hi William,
A leak at exhaust system will not adversely effect the performance of the car...
You might try....replacing fuel filter and check the wastegate action on turbo...they do get rusty and need to be looked at....once in a while.
Happy motoring,

Hi Bilbo,
How and where would I check for the wastegate action...
Thank you again
AnswerHi..
The wastegate is a part of the turbo...it allows turbo to send boost to engine...look at vacuum operated plunger in turbo...see if rod is free to move on turbo side of plunger...kinda hard to explain...this rod rusts and dosent let the plunger move....therefore, no turbo.

Needless to say...the exhaust system must be cold to work on turbo unit.
