QuestionMy son has just bought a Volvo 244 DL 1980, but the bad thing is that the ventilator fan doesn't work. I have checked the fuses and those are alright.
In the ventilator control panel, there are lights in the flap-adjust knobs, but no reaction when turning on the “fan-adjust. knob, there is no reaction.
Any idea on how and what to search for, can there be some kind of “switches” that could be defect, or is it most likely that the el. fan is dead/burnt?
I saw some one mention that changing the fan, is a huge and expensive job for specialists or very skilled mechanics, true?
Anyone having a link where I can find el. wiring diagram for the fan?
Kindly regard

NB! I think I did a mistake and also put the same question under wrong board? --Cars/Volvo
AnswerHello Per,
I very sad to inform you that...your fan motor has failed...very common in 240 models....as you are now aware.... repairing this problem is a major event.
I have done this job and it requires patience and perserverence..
If you have reasonable skill with using your hands..you CAN do this job...purchase a NEW fan motor assembly and read up on what it takes to do this job...properly.
Consider the savings...hundreds of dollars.
This job is labour intensive and involves a sequence of disassembly...
Good luck Per,
