Volvo Repair: Repairs on a 1993 960 model, rack and pinion steering, tie rod

I bought a 1993 960 sedan that needs front ball and pinion work?  Is that an expensive repair?

     You must mean ..rack and pinion steering assembly.
       This is replaced as an assembly...not in parts.
      Some external related parts are replaceable....tie-rod ends....inner or outer.
         The cost of replacing this unit:
       Prices vary....400...700 depending on the repair
shop..   If you have ability, you can do this job.Save hundreds
