Volvo Repair: 97 Volvo 850, rad cap, volvo 850

Got new radiator but did NOT get new cap. few days later warning light, & they told me I needed new water pump even tho old one was only 19 mos. old.  Did the lack of new cap cost me a water pump/thermostat?  thx.

         NO, the lack of a new  rad. cap did not cause w/p failure....however it might cause your engine to expell some of cooling system fluid...chances are that the bearing in the pump failed..you should get second opinion.
