Volvo Repair: Volvo 740se rattle at start up, heat shields, bad habit
QuestionWhen I start the car up in the morning I get this rattling sound from underthe car. Once the car warm up it will stop making the noise. Can you please tell me what this could possibly making the noise.
AnswerHello Rob, Volvos have a bad habit with 'rattling 'exhaust pipe heat shields and sometime the 'cat'converter will come loose and after your moving it settles to the rear of the housing and can appear to 'disappear'. An 'exhaust manifold gasket' leak,in the early stages, can also fit the discription.Thank you and good hunting! PKD
