Volvo Repair: Brake lights out, light fuse, fuse holder
QuestionHello,
I own a 1995 Volvo 940 turbo, I have lost my brake lights all of a sudden. I have flashers, turn signals running lights but no brake lights. Fuses are good, bulbs are fine, there is power to the brake light fuse, and I removed the brake switch and by passed it but still no brake lights. Any guesses, I called Volvo and they said that there is no relay's listed for this model, Although I removed the cigarette lighted holder and in back of it behind the fuse holder there are at least seven relays. Any advise on this problem would be a help. Thanks Anthony
AnswerUse a multimeter and check for voltage at the bulb socket. If there is none then starting working your way back towards the brake switch until you get voltage; thats where a break in the wire is. If there is voltage to the socket then the ground is missing. So trace the wires back to the grounding point and it will be open someplace in there. Hope that helps.
