Volvo Repair: reverse lights, white slide, ceramic piece

Hello I drive a 1990 240 dl volvo sedan with a automatic transmission. My problem is that my reverse lights don't work at all. I was hoping that you might have some suggestions for me to trouble shoot this.th e car was in a minor accident and the airbag came out. The car was hit in the front no damage really. thank you

yes under the shifter housing cover, there is a sliding white piece that is attatched to a brown or black ceramic piece.  there is a pin attatched to the shifter, that must engage this white slide. this is your neutral switch. this is prettty common after an accident.
